Nature NearsightsNature Nearsights (2007-2011), groups together recent work that shares not only similar materials and technique, but also a particular viewpoint from which diverse subjects are observed. The paintings aim to catch some of the mystery and surprise in nature close around us - lichens, with their whorls and splash of color set off by calligraphic cracks in stone and bark, winter in its garb of snow and ice which makes strange and unfamiliar those same rocks and branches and random findings from that great emporium of the shore, the beach bazaar that's restocked daily by the tide.
