Lichens ‘n Ice

Lichens ‘n Ice  (2007-2010), groups together recent work that shares not only similar materials and technique, but also a particular viewpoint from which these diverse subjects are observed and presented. The paintings aim to catch some of the mystery and surprises in nature close around us - the lichens, those reticent yet hardy fungi with their whorls and splash of color set off by calligraphic cracks in stone and bark and winter in its garb of snow and ice, which like carnival disguises make strange and unfamiliar those same rocks and branches.
